Boosted by the 3-hit performance of George Altman, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1901 draft, the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees, 5-2. Omar Olivares notched his 1st save of the season. Boston has a mark of 1-6 after the win.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the fifth, Altman had a key at-bat for Boston. With the bases loaded, Altman hit a 2-run single off Floyd Youmans, making the score 3-1, Red Sox.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Altman after the game.
