Royals Win at New York, 5-2
|
Kansas City and New York duked it out and the Royals came out victorious.
Bill Phillips had a strong outing for the Kansas City Royals against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. In 8.2 innings, Phillips surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs.
The Royals got a big at-bat from second baseman Jose Caballero. For the game, Caballero was 1 for 3 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Kansas City a 2-0 lead.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Phillips.
The Royals raised their record to 4-2.
