Ridin' High: Whitsell Hits for Cycle
Monday, August 30th , 2032
Getting 5 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Jarrod Whitsell's day was a special one.
The shortstop hit for the cycle to spark the 29-6 Texas (DSL) Rangers Red victory over the Houston (DSL) Astros Orange at Academia de Prospecto Complex. Texas (DSL) manager Jesse Darcy said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Whitsell in particular.
"Jarrod caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."
For the day, Whitsell finished with 8 RBI and 4 runs scored to go with his 5 hits.
Jarrod Whitsell hit an RBI double in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Luis Bello in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.
So far this season, Whitsell has put up a .535 batting average with 77 hits, 4 home runs and 52 RBIs.
