Rangers Red Heading to Round 2
Tuesday, August 24th , 2032
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Felipe Rojas Alou Complex as the Round 1 stretched to the final game.
It was the Texas (DSL) Rangers Red feeling the thrill of victory, with a 17-9 win over the San Francisco (DSL) Giants Black, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 2.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said San Francisco (DSL) manager Cesar Galvez. "Congratulations to Texas (DSL), but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was shortstop Jarrod Whitsell, who was named MVP. He hit .533 with a .632 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 12 RBI and scored 15 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The Texas (DSL) Rangers Red will play against the Houston (DSL) Astros Orange in the next round. Houston (DSL) won their series against the Arizona (DSL) Diamondbacks Black 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
