Hit Streak Over, Blue Jays Stop Mercado Saturday, August 7th , 2032 The hitting streak that New York N (DSL) left fielder Edgar Mercado had kept going for 33 games was ended by the Toronto (DSL) Blue Jays. Mercado was stymied over 3 at-bats, but the rest of his team picked him up, getting the 8-5 victory at New York Mets Complex. "Hitting streaks come and go," Mercado said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." This year, Mercado is batting .476 with 8 home runs. |
