Tamayo Hit String Snapped at 22 Sunday, August 3rd , 2031 The Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays 2 got more than the 21-5 victory at Kansas City Royals Complex -- they also put an end to the 22-game hitting streak of Kansas City (DSL) Royals Stewart second baseman Juan Tamayo by holding him without a hit in 5 at-bats. After the game, Tamayo seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." This season, Tamayo has posted a batting average of .425 with 82 hits in 193 at-bats, 10 home runs and 60 RBIs. He has also scored 44 runs, walked 20 times and compiled a .487 OBP. |
