Vela Batters Texas (DSL) Big Time Thursday, July 5th , 2029 There was no storybook ending. Edgar Vela of the Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies Red socked it to the visiting Texas (DSL) Rangers Blue with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Phillies Red fell, 10-7, at Philadelphia Phillies Academy. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Vela complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Philadelphia (DSL) manager Reinaldo Ruiz sympathized with his starting pitcher, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Edgar played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Edgar Vela singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th. View Boxscore |
