26-Game Streak Ends, Fierro Hitless Monday, July 21st , 2031 Daniel Fierro came rolling into today's game against the Cincinnati (DSL) Reds with a 26-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Tower Complex. The 21-year-old Detroit (DSL) Tigers 1 shortstop went 0-for-3 against the Reds as the Tigers 1 fell, 15-4. "I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all." So far this year, Fierro has 9 home runs and a .364 batting average. |
