Flores Fires No-Hitter
Tuesday, June 10th , 2031
Nelson Flores relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Fredericksburg hitless in a win, 9-0, at Bank of the James Stadium.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Nationals off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 21-year-old starter rung up 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Nationals.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Fredericksburg skipper Michael Johnson said.
