Medina Throws 4-0 Shutout
Friday, September 3rd , 2032
Luis Medina of the Lynchburg Hillcats was on top of his game.
The 24-year-old tantalized the Carolina Mudcats with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 4-0.
"He had the changeup working," Carolina manager Anthony Contreras said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Lynchburg hurler had 7 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Medina told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
This season, Medina has compiled a 11-3 record with a 2.27 ERA.
