Bushnell and Morones Suspended, Out 2 Games Sunday, August 29th , 2032 The action was hot and heavy at a recent Salem-Kannapolis game at Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Red Sox Darnell Bushnell and Kannapolis's Dave Morones will each miss 2 games for their roles in the fight. "We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe." This season, Bushnell has hit at a .237 clip with 31 RBIs, 3 home runs and 16 runs scored. He has played in 105 games. So far this season, in 22 relief appearances Morones has compiled an ERA of 2.40. He has pitched 82.1 innings, struck out 69, walked 25 and registered no saves. |
