20-Game Hitting Streak for Contreras Thursday, May 24th , 2035 The hot bat of Hillcats shortstop David Contreras continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 20 games after he went 1-for-4 in today's 3-0 loss to the Red Sox at Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark. "I'm trying not to think about it much," he said later. "I don't want to mess with whatever zone I'm in." David Contreras grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and flied out in the 8th. This season, Contreras is swinging the bat at a .386 rate with 54 hits in 140 at-bats.
