Hillsboro 2031 Round 1 Champions Thursday, September 25th , 2031 A celebratory mood filled the air as the Hillsboro Hops closed out the season with a 3-1 victory over the Eugene Emeralds at PK Park to capture the Round 1, 4-3. Giving the Emeralds credit for a hard-fought series, Hops players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Northwest League champions. "We felt like this was our year all season long," said third baseman Juan Vargas, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did." It was the 3rd in franchise history. During the Northwest League regular season Hillsboro put up a 75-58 record and finished second. "They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Eugene manager Eddy Ramos.
