Mariners Halt Rivadeneira's Hit Streak Thursday, August 5th , 2027 For 29 straight games, Juan Rivadeneira tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 20-year-old Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 2 third baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Seattle (DSL) Mariners. The Mariners held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Baseball City Complex today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 29. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Orioles 2 took the win by the score of 8-0. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." Currently Rivadeneira has 4 home runs and a .355 batting average. |
