Dye Goes Yard 3 Times Monday, August 21st , 2028 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Philadelphia E (GCL) Phillies East today. Detroit W (GCL) shortstop Tommie Dye tripled up on the home runs to propel the Tigers West to the 9-3 win at Joker Marchant Stadium. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Philadelphia E (GCL) manager Kerry Wood said. "Dye hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Dye collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Tommie Dye struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Malik Philpot in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Derek Boyer in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Chris Finch in the 8th. Currently Dye has 16 home runs and a .331 batting average. |
