Thursday, September 23rd , 2027
He may have less experience than most of his Appalachian League peers, but that didn't slow Omar Romaro down at all in 2027.
At the age of 21, the Bluefield left fielder has been named the winner of the Appalachian League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .342 batting average and a .387 on-base percentage this year. In 36 games he piled up 54 hits, 9 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run, 38 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Sergio Romero of the Johnson City Cardinals finished second in voting, while Devin Diaz of the Bristol Pirates finished third with 1 first place vote.
