#1 Player Named by South Atlantic League Monday, October 2nd , 2028 Gil Neubig took South Atlantic League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 24. For his spectacular campaign, the Augusta GreenJackets star has been named the 2028 South Atlantic League Most Valuable Player Award recipient. "To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the first baseman. On the season he compiled a .349 batting average to go with a .417 on-base percentage. The native of Virginia Beach, Virginia also added 33 doubles, 3 triples, 23 home runs, 87 RBIs and 95 runs scored. He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Alex Villa of the Augusta GreenJackets finished second in voting, while Jared Hart of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers finished third.
