Slumping Pirates Lose 8th Straight
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates.
No one was more impactful than Josh Ianniello in the 5-3 St. Louis win over Pittsburgh. Ianniello, who is tied for 10th in the NL in doubles with 7, belted 2 home runs. The win went to Skylar Arias in relief, making him now 2-1. Jon Bagley took the loss for Pittsburgh. Emmanuel Clase was credited with the save for St. Louis, his 3rd of the season.
St. Louis took a 4-3 lead on Sean Hardin's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hardin hit in the top of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Jon Bagley visibly frustrated.
"We're in a rut," said Pittsburgh manager Brian Boyd.
For the Pirates, the loss makes them 9-14.
