Down East's Lacy Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-8 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Jeremy Lacy, it came around today.

The 21-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Five County Stadium to pace the 4-3 Down East Wood Ducks victory over the Carolina Mudcats.

Carolina skipper Marcus Jones told reporters in the press room that "Lacy deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Lacy hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Jeremy Lacy struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, flied out in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, doubled in the 12th, singled in the 14th, singled in the 16th and walked in a run in the 17th.

Lacy is hitting at a .297 mark this season. His stats show 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has played 43 games for the Wood Ducks.
