Flying Squirrels Fizzle in 1-0 Loss to RubberDucks
|
The Akron RubberDucks did little to support starter Julio Cecenas against the Richmond Flying Squirrels, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Flying Squirrels, striking out 3 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Cecenas allowed Akron to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Julio, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Cecenas told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
In 9 starts this year, Cecenas has fashioned a 5-2 record and a 3.58 ERA.
