Division Series Goes the Distance, San Diego Prevails
|
The San Diego Padres were paced by a strong offensive output from Mo Hampton Jr. as they downed the Miami Marlins 3-2 to win the Division Series.
San Diego won the final game by a score of 4-2 at Marlins Park to send themselves off to the League Championship Series.
"I wasn't so much focused on putting up big offensive numbers as I was about ensuring we won the games. So it's mission accomplished there," said center fielder Hampton Jr., who was named MVP.
For the series, the MVP hit .385 with a .467 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The San Diego Padres will play against the San Francisco Giants in the next round. San Francisco won their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 13th , 2028.
