Fermin Magnificent in 5-0 New Hampshire Triumph
Andres Fermin of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats was on top of his game.

The 24-year-old tantalized the Richmond Flying Squirrels with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0.

"He had the changeup working," Richmond manager Victor Garate said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The New Hampshire hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 4 walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.

Fermin told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

This year, Fermin has a 13-12 record and a 3.94 ERA.
