Quijas on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Nelson Quijas did everything he could for the Arizona (DSL) Diamondbacks Black -- literally.

The 22-year-old shortstop hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Diamondbacks Black, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Houston (DSL) Astros Orange, 16-6, at Houston Astros Blue Complex.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Quijas reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Quijas banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Nelson Quijas tripled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Arturo Ibarra in the 5th, walked in the 6th and singled in the 7th.

Thus far this season, Quijas has hit .565 with 8 home runs, 105 RBIs and scored 86 times.
