Rivera Strokes 5 Hits
After a 5-hit effort to lead Houston (DSL)'s 11-2 victory over the Cleveland (DSL) Guardians Blue, left fielder David Rivera told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Dominican Rookie League-level is really something special."

The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Houston Astros Blue Complex with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Guardians Blue.

"His swing is getting there," said Astros Orange skipper Joe Rosselli, who spoke glowingly of Rivera after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. David did that to perfection."

David Rivera hit a two-run home run off Ramiro Lacayo in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This season, Rivera has hit at a .587 clip and produced 37 RBI, 11 home runs and 40 runs.
