Redwoods Rally to Nose Past West Texas State
|
Northern California pitcher Jerry Rice had a large part in his team subduing the West Texas State Express, 2-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Northern California, with the win, sits at 19-37.
Had Ryan Cook not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Cook hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Redwoods.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Cook told the Northern California Bulletin.
