Fighting Puffins Suffer 7-2 Road Loss
The performance of Dan McCauley proved critical in helping Northern California beat Puget State, 7-2. The Redwoods first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Northern California reliever Alex Rodriguez picked up the win to move to 1-1. Antonio Rosario suffered the loss. Northern California, with the win, sits at 15-31.

The Fighting Puffins had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Redwoods going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Justin Scott came to the plate. Scott hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Puget State hurler Brian Poitra. It was Scott's 7th home run of the year.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Scott.
