Red-Hot Monroy Scorches Athletics
Tuesday, July 19th , 2044
It was a sensational day at the plate for Jose Monroy as he led the charge to a nifty 11-2 win over the Athletics. The Los Angeles (DSL) first baseman was pure misery for the Oakland (DSL) pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Monroy put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Ryan O'Shea, manager for the Athletics, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Jose Monroy hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
For the year, Monroy is batting .362 with no home runs.
