Marlins Heading to Round 3
Thursday, September 6th , 2046
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Baseball City Complex as the Round 2 stretched to the final game.
It was the Miami (DSL) Marlins feeling the thrill of victory, with a 3-2 win over the Minnesota (DSL) Twins, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 3.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Minnesota (DSL) manager Bryce Wood. "Congratulations to Miami (DSL), but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was catcher Joel Elliott, who was named MVP. He hit .550 with a .640 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 5 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The Miami (DSL) Marlins will play against the Colorado (DSL) Rockies 2 in the next round. Colorado (DSL) won their series against the Pittsburgh (DSL) Pirates 2 4 games to 3. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
