Mariners Move on to Round 2
Wednesday, August 31st , 2044
The Seattle (DSL) Mariners clubhouse was filled with glee and celebration tonight, while the San Diego (DSL) Padres 1 room was filled with despair and sadness after the Round 1 concluded.
"Someone's got to win and someone's got to lose, we're just glad we're on the good end of it tonight and can enjoy this," said Randy Nichols, who was named MVP for a strong series of offensive performance.
Seattle (DSL) won the final game by a 7-3 count at Las Palmas Complex and the series 4-2.
San Diego (DSL) manager Keyter Collado was simple and to-the-point in his assessment of the series.
"They were the better team and deserve to move on," he said.
For the series, Nichols hit .500 with a .536 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Seattle (DSL) Mariners will play against the Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies White in the next round. Philadelphia (DSL) won their series against the Colorado (DSL) Rockies 2 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
