Spingler Cracks 5 Hits Wednesday, August 10th , 2044 A jubilant Micah Spingler joined the postgame press conference at Sox Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the St. Louis (DSL) Cardinals Blue pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays 2 center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 8-1 Rays 2 win. "He made it look easy," said Jefry Yan, manager of the Cardinals Blue. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Micah Spingler hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Thus far this season, Spingler is hitting .346 with 2 home runs, 20 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 162 at-bats and has played in 47 games. View Boxscore |
