Ruiz, Marlins Shut Out Rays 2, 3-0 Tuesday, August 2nd , 2044 The Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays 2 manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Miami (DSL) Marlins. The Rays 2 were overpowered by Miami (DSL) starter Willie Ruiz, who hurled his club to victory, 3-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Kipp Schutz said. Over 9 innings, Ruiz blanked Tampa Bay (DSL) on 6 hits with no walks and 6 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Ruiz said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." View Boxscore |
