Fernandez Batters Mahoning Valley for 5 Hits Monday, August 22nd , 2044 The El Paso Commandos stopped the Mahoning Valley Scrappers by a score of 8-2 at Commandos Ballpark, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Bobby Fernandez. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Fernandez said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Fernandez did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Scrappers. "Not much that I can say," offered Mahoning Valley manager Nestor Corredor. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Bobby Fernandez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Currently Fernandez is batting .312 with 35 hits and 2 home runs.
