Powell Hit String Snapped at 21
Friday, August 5th , 2044
It was the best of both worlds for the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park, as they defeated the Rochester Red Wings, 8-0, and also snapped Dan Powell's 21-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old Rochester center fielder failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Powell, we just wanted to win the game," said Clippers skipper J.D. Underwood. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Powell frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
This season, Powell is batting .283 with 96 hits, 4 home runs, 50 RBIs, 17 walks, .320 OBP and has scored 44 runs. He has played in 96 games.
