Ortiz Shuts Out Chicago (N), 4-0

In a remarkable performance, St. Louis Cardinals starter Alex Ortiz beat the Chicago (N) Cubs, 4-0, in an impressive 3-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Cardinals hurler finished with 8 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Chicago (N) manager Matt Smith said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
So far this year, Ortiz has made 29 starts, tossed 167 innings, struck out 157 batters and walked 43. His record is 9-11 with a 4.10 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .244 batting average.
