Bowers Slugs Dodgers to 5-0 Win
The exploits of designated hitter Chris Bowers, who finished 2nd in the NL in doubles with 54 in 2041, helped the Los Angeles (N) Dodgers defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-0. Bowers went 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. The victory makes Los Angeles (N) 13-13.

Gary Payne had a big 2-run home run for the Dodgers in the top of the sixth inning. With Los Angeles (N) leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Efren Gibson and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Dodgers on top, 4-0.
