Tigers Win with Late Heroics
The Detroit Tigers sent the home crowd home ecstatic.

Chicago (A) got a terrific game from second baseman Sam Middleton. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Detroit, 13-12, in 14 innings. Middleton hit 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. The winner was Detroit reliever Willie Jimenez, now 1-0. The loser was Melvin Barrera.

Devon Brown played the role of hero for Detroit. In the bottom of the 14th, he launched a 2-run home run off Melvin Barrera to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was the decisive blow.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Joshua Smith said.

The White Sox, now 4-8, continue their sluggish start.
