Super Swinger -- Middlekauff Slams 5 Hits
Today at Sutter Health Park, Brad Middlekauff put on an impressive display.

The Sacramento River Cats second baseman tagged Reno pitching for 5 hits in 8 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Reno Aces by the score of 13-11.

"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Middlekauff said. "5-for-8 ain't bad in any league."

Despite the terrific performance, the River Cats manager was unwilling to offer the second baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.

"Brad told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Ken Maiolo said.

Brad Middlekauff singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th, singled in the 9th, flied out in the 11th, flied out in the 13th, hit a solo-shot off John Mendoza in the 16th and walked in the 18th.

At the moment, Middlekauff is hitting .306 with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has played in 25 games and scored 16 times.
