Boston Beats Toronto, 3-2
|
The Boston Red Sox earned a close win over the Toronto Blue Jays, thanks in part to Cameron Washington. The Boston left-hander, who finished 5th in the NL in wins with 15 in 2042, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Jeff Carter notched his 9th save of the season. The American League East Division-leading Red Sox are 84-65.
Boston went up, 3-2, on Dave Payne's 29th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Payne hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Josh Rocheleau muttering to himself.
Washington attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
