Cincinnati Wins, 6-5, Over Mets
|
The Cincinnati Reds downed the New York (N) Mets, 6-5, at The Best Park in the World presented by PornHub. Jim Heather led the way, going 2-for-3 for Cincinnati. Jeremiah Stanley earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 5-4. The first-place Reds, at 83-62, now lead their division by 3 games.
Ivan Gonzales drew 1 walk in 2 trips to the plate for Cincinnati. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Chris Roundy. It was his 2nd walk of the season.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Heather.
