Behind an impressive start by Tim McAllister, Atlanta beat St. Louis, 5-1. McAllister, now 10-9, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. St. Louis's current losing streak is now 4 games.

The Braves got a big boost from designated hitter Sean Terry who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first inning off Cardinals hurler Alex Ortiz. It was his 7th RBI of the season and put Atlanta on top, 1-0.
