Athletics Score Late, Clip Blue Jays, 1-0
|
Starting pitcher Jon Krug was a major factor in the 1-0 Oakland Athletics triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays. The win went to Ricky Saragoza in relief, making him now 3-4. Vinny Angelico took the loss for Toronto. Oakland leads the American League West Division by 11½ games.
The Athletics got a clutch hit from first baseman Tim Klix. In the bottom of the ninth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Athletics.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Klix.
