Charlotte Flight starter Andres Gomez turned in an exceptional performance against the Washington Nationals at Griffith-Nationals Park, resulting in a Charlotte win, 3-1. Gomez, the winner, moves to 13-4. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. The win for the Flight raised their record to 66-55.
Gaven Duggan, who is tied for 3rd in the NL with a .328 batting average, had a direct impact on the outcome. Duggan contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Charlotte up, 3-0.
