Philadelphia 11-1 Victors at Portillo's Malort Field
|
The rain did not keep Philadelphia and Chicago (N) from finishing their game.
Dan Cassidy brought his A-game to help Philadelphia defeat the Chicago (N) Cubs, 11-1. The Phillies have an impressive 61-35 record.
Tony Benavides had a big 2-run double for the Phillies in the top of the first inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Mike Dietrich, who leads the NL in complete games with 2, and swatted a double to left. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phillies ahead, 3-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Cassidy told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
