White Sox Rally to Win, 2-1
|
The Chicago (A) White Sox had to weather a strong performance from Minnesota pitcher Dan Stevenson before claiming a 2-1 win in 10 innings. Stevenson went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Chicago (A) reliever Ben Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Ramon Melgoza was saddled with the loss. The defeat makes Minnesota 40-48.
Manny Roybal, who finished 3rd in the NL in stolen bases with 45 in 2039, had a direct impact on the outcome. Roybal contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Chicago (A) up, 2-1.
"Makes our job easier," said Roybal, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
