Yankees Pull Out Late Win, 4-3
|
The New York (A) Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners, 4-3, in part because of center fielder Ben Monroe. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. New York (A) reliever Bobby Tomblin picked up the win to move to 5-3. Jimmy Roehling suffered the loss. New York (A), at 46-43, occupies second place in the American League East Division.
Mike Mehaffey was the walk-off hero for New York (A). With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Yankees designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
