Tim Hoffman led the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to a shutout victory, 5-0, over the Syracuse Mets at NBT Bank Stadium.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Hoffman recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Hoffman yielded 10 hits and had 7 strikeouts and 4 walks in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Syracuse manager Justin Anderson said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

In 74 games this season, Hoffman has compiled a .321 batting average with 87 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 22 times and knocked in 30 runs.
