In a low-scoring game between San Diego and New York (N), pitcher Joe Horan was excellent. The San Diego right-hander helped his team knock off the Mets, 2-1. Jeremy Hampton notched his 17th save in 18 chances. San Diego improves to 39-21 with the win. They lead their division by 7 games.

Horan, who leaned on his sinker, allowed 1 run on just 2 hits over 8 innings for the Padres. For the most part, New York (N) hitters were simply overmatched.
