Yankees Need Extra Frames to Get Past Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Chris Conners into a win. Instead, the New York (A) Yankees prevailed, 5-3, in 14 innings. Conners threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win for the Yankees raised their record to 87-72.

New York (A) used a clutch hit from Steve Rowe to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Yankees ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Rowe.
