The Washington Nationals used an offensive barrage to beat the Chicago (N) Cubs, 16-0, at Portillo's Malort Field. Jimmy Holl, who finished 2nd in the NL in home runs with 61 in 2042, led the way, going 4-for-4 for Washington. The Nationals improved their record to 31-25 by beating Chicago (N).

In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Holl hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Holl told the Washington Gazette.
