Samuelson Sizzles -- Smokes Yankees 1 for 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays 2 second baseman Nate Samuelson, but a tough one for the team, as the Rays 2 dropped the contest, 9-8, to the New York A (DSL) Yankees 1.
Even with the loss, Samuelson was pure misery for the New York A (DSL) pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-8 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Samuelson, who is the 20-year old second baseman .
"Samuelson really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Yankees 1 manager Matt Johnson told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Nate Samuelson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, grounded out in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, struck out in the 13th and hit a solo-shot off Jose Vasquez in the 15th.
So far this year, Samuelson is batting .407 with 2 home runs.
